Kolya Restaurant at the Manos Hotel

Him and I have been trying to make sure that we have at least one night of the week that is about us… Quality time… hence the name *date night*… this has pretty much been the night where we leave the iPads, phones, computers alone… and either cuddle up on the couch to watch a movie… or head into town and watch a film in cinema… or go out to dinner.

JUST THE TWO OF US!

It really does make a difference – because we finally do the proper catch up of the week, what has been happening, what our future plans are with friends around activities, etc… and of course – holding hands and googly eyes at each other ūüôā

This past weekend Рwe used the MyTable booking website to reserve a table at a restaurant that I had only ever been to for work dinner РKolya Рat the Manos Hotel on Chaussée de Charleroi.

Regarding MyTable Рthis is a concept similar to RestoBe Рwhereby you look up the area, amount you want to spend,  type of food or specific amenities that you want, it gives you a list of all the restaurants in that area (including tripadvisor ratings).

The¬†whole process is really easy to use – click click¬†– you select the restaurant you would like to have a reservation made at – input your time, date, number of guests and some personal details (name, email, etc)… and within a short amount of time, the MyTable¬†concierge has contacted the restaurant on your behalf and secured the booking! (you also receive email and sms notifications).

Now onto our *date night* experience….

We arrived at Kolya around 7.30pm (clearly the first to arrive on a Saturday evening) and were led to a gorgeous table on the terrace (in winter – sitting indoors is just as amazing as the ceiling is glass!!) – and it didn’t take long for the terrace area to fill up with people!

HIM and I opted for a bit of Leopards Leap¬†Lookout with 40% Cabernet Sauvignon, 39% Shiraz, 21% Cinsaut… very delicious…and always amazing to find good South African wine in Belgium!

This lead us onto our starters! HIM opted for a Prawn and Ginger combination (18‚ā¨) – super yummy!

while I opted for the Langoustines (23‚ā¨) which were melted so phenomenally in my mouth that I thought I had actually died and gone to heaven! Although they give you all the *tools* – you really don’t need all of them (or if at all)

For Main courses – HIM ordered the Canard (Duck @ 28‚ā¨)… it was slightly too pink for his personal preference¬†and lacked a few more chippies… but the overall taste was definitely 10 out of 10!

I had my favourite… Veal topped with Foie¬†Gras – 32‚ā¨¬†(could it get any more evil or delicious than this???)

And finally… HIM (and his wicked sweet tooth) had to have a dessert – Tarte¬†Tatin (10‚ā¨) which arrived with a flourish… and he inhaled every last morsel!!

Would we go back again? YES – this is not¬†a cheap establishment… but the food and service reflect it. The Staff are friendly, welcoming and nothing is too much trouble. The Food is delicious and expertly prepared and presented. This IS a SPECIAL OCCASION kind of restaurant!
