Indian buffet at Au Palais des Indes

HIM and I spent the better part of Saturday moving…

Moving HIM’s stuff into my little apartment before our BIG move in July….

What I thought would be a few hours of moving a few boxes turned into a MAJOR physical adventure – down 4 flights of stairs, load car, then up 2 flights of stairs… not only boxes and bags but also 3 large wardrobe pieces, an L-shaped couch broken into 3 LARGE pieces, 2 beds, Dining room table and chairs, etc etc etc…

All done by 2 guys and MOI…

Now I know that there are muscles under the layers of insulating fat… “how do I know?”, you ask… because I can barely walk or move today 🙂

After 8hours of manual labour – we had just enough time to shower and get ready for a friend’s birthday dinner that was being hosted at Au Palais des Indes (which is one street away from our current humble abode).

Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings from 7pm until 10.30pm, they offer BUFFET night – a wide variety of starters (samosa’s, fried fish strips, onion bhajiha, lentils balls with yoghurt and build your own salad bar) followed by big copper pots filled with a delicious array of mains (rice, chicken tikka masala (which was amazing), Fish curry, Lamb curry and loads of vegetarian options!)

this was then complimented with a few dessert options – rice pudding, beignets (deep-fried dough balls served with sugar), Fruit salad with mango cream and mini chocolate eclairs).

The staff are super friendly and helpful and the drinks kept flowing.

love love the kingfisher beer with a curry!

Would I go back again? For 29Euros per person for the buffet – I think that I would need to come hungry (but then, there is only so much curry you can eat in one sitting – right?). They do have ala cart menu options the rest of the week as well as a take-away & delivery option. I do love Ashoks and the Nepalese restaurant, L’Everest around the corner – but this is a good Indian food option as well.
