My second time hosting a Bookalokal dinner (this time, without the murder mystery theme and starter recipe can be found here from yesterdays post) and since I am a *slave* to cheesecake’s…. I figured that I should try to make a new variation on a firm favourite!
Previous cheesecake recipes that I have tried, include:
- black & white Oreo™ Cheesecake
- Berry Marshmallow Cheesecake
- Jamie Olivers Baked Cheesecake
- Original baked Cheesecake
so this Chocolate Cheesecake just slots right in 🙂 (Recipe found in one of the *magazine slips* but unfortunately nothing on the page indicates which magazine or issue the recipe is from… *sorry*)
Chocolate Cheesecake
300g speculoos biscuits, crushed (their recipe calls for chocolate digestives – but I liked the Brussels influence :))
85g melted butter
110ml double cream
2x 300g soft cream cheese
2 Tablespoons cocoa, sifted
2 eggs
85g caster sugar
zest & juice of 1 orange
150g chocolate (OPTIONAL – to decorate)
- Stir crushed biscuits into butter and press into tin
- Chill for 15minutes
- In a food processor, blitz 50ml double cream with the cream cheese, cocoa, eggs and sugar until smooth
- Stir in the orange juice and most of the zest & mix
- Pour into a greased tin and bake at 160C for 40minutes
- Turn off the oven and leave the cake inside to cool for 1hr, then place in fridge to chill
- Use potato peeler to peel flakes & curls of chocolate carefully
- Whip remaining cream and pipe onto the cake and scatter remaining flaked orange and remaining orange zest to decorate (I never did this… and it still turned out just fine!)
Thanks for sharing, can’t wait to try it!
