A mere pebbles hop, skip and a jump away from the Flagey/Ixelles lakes is an Irish pub that every English-speaking person in Brussels is familiar with.
De Valeras Irish Pub, offers live sport (probably the only place in Brussels that I have managed to watch SA rugby at) along with pub grub and of course, lots and lots of alcohol beverages! They also offer pub quiz nights, live entertainment on particular evenings and staff who speak multiple languages (including English!!). So essentially, a little English-speaking homely pub with all the requirements met!
HIM, Mr Draper and I wandered down to Place Flagey in search of some tummy-warming grub and of course wanting to go to someplace that we hadn’t been to before (in all fairness – I have been to De Valeras before, I have just never blogged about them before!)
HIM and Mr Draper both ordered the Prime Irish Beef Burger (served with mature cheddar cheese and sauté onions, along with french fries and small garnish salad €11) and I have to confess that I wanted to grab the burger out of their hands and take a BIG bite out it… it looked so good!
While I (trying to be relatively good as I think of wedding dress shopping which will be on the horizon soon)… ordered the Grilled Chicken Salad (marinated grilled chicken breast served on a tossed leaf salad €12)
Would I go back? Yes. The ciders are cold, the food is fresh and proper pub grub standard and it feels like a traditional pub… so the atmosphere is relaxed and unpretentious!
