With 180° views of Cape Town, Table Mountain, Robben Island and coastal views towards the West Coast, Maestro’s on the Beach is a clear winner if you want to enjoy a meal (from their varied menu) with a view (either from their deck area or the comfort of indoors, behind glass and without sea-sand in your teeth)! Situated next to the lighthouse at Milnerton Beach on the infamous Woodbridge Island, this restaurant opened its door to the public in January 2000.
And when I say *varied menu*… I really mean it… From seafood platters to pizza’s, from burgers to pasta’s, from breakfasts to salads, this place has it all! If you can’t find an item on the menu that tickles your fancy… then you clearly don’t come from this planet!
HIM and I had our last meal on South African soil here with Mom, before heading out to the airport for our arduous trip home (mine went from an 18hr travel schedule to 42hr’s… but that is a whole other story!)
HIM ordered the Trinchado (240g strips of chicken lightly fried in olive oil and garlic, covered in a spicy creamy tomato sauce for R99) – the portion size was ridiculously large – but the Portuguese spiciness was perfect! (This option can also be done with Beef Fillet for R130) and he opted for a baked potato to go with it (choices are chips, rice, mash or baked potato)
Mom and I opted for the Jessica Simpson (Oh my Word!) Beef Burgers (avocado, camembert, bacon & peppadew, R60) served with chips (but as with the rest of their main menu – the options are chips, rice, mash or a baked potato)
Would I go back again? Yes… I have had their seafood platter, pizza, burgers, stuffed calamari in the past (not all at once…I promise) and the food (plus the view) never fails to disappoint. In previous visits, the service has been a bit on the slow side, but I have to confess that this particular visit didn’t have any issues. I do also recommend making a reservation (especially in summer) as they are a very popular venue (even if they can seat 200people, there might be the possibility that they just don’t have a spare table!)
