I have mentioned them before – but have never given them the true credit that they deserve… but I love visiting Stonemanor – The British Store located in Brussels having started in May 1982 by Roger George, who saw an opportunity to provide British products (mainly food items) to the expatriate community living in Brussels!
This year is their 30th year and with 2 stores (one in Everberg and one in Waterloo which opened in 2006) – they continue to share a passion for British products (having introduced Waitrose products in 2010) and strive to bring the very best of this to their customers!
The Everberg store is my favourite and since today is Thursday with extended shopping hours (open until 9pm) – I will be able to stock up on some of my favourite goodies! The Ground floor is the Food hall, including household products, magazines and Waitrose products. While the first floor provides a wide variety of greeting cards, English books, partyware, games, yankee candles and a few DVD’s. And the final floor (2nd) showcases beds and accessories and is normally the home of seasonal events (e.g. with Halloween coming up, they will have a full range of costumes, partyware and fun fun fun!)
So if you are looking for a few of your favourite British items like cheese, biscuits, crisps (because the Belgians just haven’t mastered the art of Salt & Vinegar yet), tea’s and of course – my own personal favourite… English magazines…. at reasonable prices…. then this is where you should be!!
