HIM’s friends own a fabulous Tapas bar on Chaussée de Boondael (the venue of our second date) with 2 distinct eating area’s! The front room is light, bright and airy with wooden tables and chairs –
while the back room is darker and more cozy with hanging “chilli” lights and a more *private* feeling (and for the record, we sat in the back for our second date :))
When revisiting this spot this past weekend – we opted for a table near the windows in the front… with a view of the gorgeous bonsai tree and close enough to the open window to feel a wonderful cool breeze after a hot summers day (ok – let’s be honest – it is Brussels… and a hot summer day is anything over 20 degrees!).
The Tapas offered is a mix and match of different European favourites – all home-made and utterly delicious!
HIM ordered the Moussaka (3.50Euros), Potato Tortilla (3.50Euros) and the Boulettes de viande au curry et lait de coco (translated – meatballs with a curry and coconut milk sauce = 3,50Euros)
While I had the Patatas Bravas á l’ail (fried potato pieces with a garlic mayo = 3,50Euros), Calamaris Frits (fried Calamari = 4.00Euros) and lentilles á l’espagnole (Lentils cooked with bacon and chorizo = 4,75Euros)
and of course – we were *encouraged* to try their pannacotta with fruit as a dessert (and this was also in tapas size… which is just perfect for me!)
Would I go back again? HELL yes… brilliant. Food was tasty and owners are super friendly (not just because I am dating their mate, because they treated all tables with the same friendly and outgoing manner)
