An Aussie, Irish and Saffa gal walk into a bar… in London

After booking a romantic weekend away in London (return Eurostar, a lovely exec room at the Hilton London Kensington and double tickets to the show *wicked*) and then returning to the world of singledom (like a bucket of cold water)… I had to find a partner in crime quickly…

I was lucky enough to find TWO! So we got an extra train ticket… changed the room to a suite (pull out sofa bed in the sitting room) and BAM… we were ready for a weekend of Retail Therapy in London!

After a delay with Eurostar (unplanned works in the tunnel)… and another delay due to no electricity in St Pancras… we still managed to get to the hotel – have a little snack at the exec lounge while dropping off our luggage and complete 2hours of unadulterated credit card swiping before lunch.

Probably MY favourite venue for a touch of retail therapy is *Westfields* shopping centre in London which has 319 stores and 68 restaurants (of which 18 restaurants are on the Southern Terrace and 17 restaurants are in the Balcony/Loft area)… and best of all… they are open on a sunday (albeit only from 12noon onwards… but still this is an improvement to Belgium’s *no shopping* Sundays)

After 2 hours… there was a definite need for a break… mainly to *refuel* (food and drink) plus give feet a moment to relax…. but mainly to give my credit card a chance to breathe – so we met up at the PUZA bar (which is the unique ground floor bar of the South African restaurant called *THE MEAT & WINE CO* on the Southern Terrace)

What better way to view the menu than with a drink and a bowl of biltong to nibble on?

And then a well-spent 10 pounds… a chicken burger, wedges and a drink (either a glass of house wine or a beer or a cooldrink) = part of their lunchtime Winter Bar Specials menu.

The meal was filling and very reasonable… but could really have done with some more lashings of *pink* sauce on the grilled chicken breast burger….but those wedges… oh those dear sweet crispy on the outside but fluffy on the inside wedges…

Thereafter… more card swiping was completed… and in the evening we witnessed the musical spectacular of *Wicked* which is a definite recommendation to anyone …. but you might need to brush up on your *wizard of oz* facts if you haven’t read the book 🙂

And Sunday… well – a bit more shopping (cos we can) followed by a well deserved glass (or two) of Peach Bellini Cocktails (the others had the strawberry version) at Searcys Champagne Bar… and the word *YUM* doesn’t come close to the way that I felt about this… particularly since I have given up alcohol for Lent… and Sundays being feast days are the only days that I can partake in the nectar of the Gods …. and of course because Shopping really is an exhausting sport and requires rehydration!!

So for 4 pounds (their sunday 12-6pm *bubbles happy hour* special for February and excluding the 12,5% service charge)… you can suck down on one of these yummy drinks and stare longingly into the Dior, Jimmy Choo, Tiffany and Louis Vuitton stores… *sigh*… *one day*
