I am incredibly blessed to have the most amazing group of friends… not only in Brussels (where I currently live with HIM) but also the ones that I went to school with in Port Elizabeth, South Africa (donkeys years ago!). In fact, every trip back home to SA always involves a group get together with them and always somewhere yummy! (and in Cape Town where most of them now live)
And this trip home, included a *meet ‘n greet* with them and HIM… so I was so happy when we all spent a day wine tasting (thanks LA) and finally landed up having lunch at ROCA (after a fair number of tasting glasses at nearby wine farms) which is on the Dieu Donne winefarm in Franschhoek and offers a wide menu with a distinct influence of the Mediterranean.

with a view to absolutely die for – we were fortunate enough to be seated at one of the tables at the window….

Shells and I couldn’t make up our minds regarding the menu, so finally decided that the best road to take was a selection of their Mezze and Tapas, namely: Babaganouj (charred brinjal, lemon & seasame seed paste R30), Chorizo Sausage (spicy smoked paprika flavours R49), Calamares Firtos (Fried calamari R40), Chicken liver pate, Duck pate and Beetroot & Feta salad.

Shells husband went for a pizza - which in all honesty looked AMAZING… and I have never seen so much avo on a pizza before!

Paula had the mixed tomato salad along with a starter portion of Carpaccio of Ostrich (roasted peppers, basil pesto, shaved parmesan, rocket R70)

While her husband to be, Grant ordered the Lamb Ragu (fresh mint, olives, peppers and tomato R89) – which he raved about… sayin that there was a decent amount of lamb!

La (who actually organised the restaurant booking along with all the wine tastings in the mornings – bless her) opted for one of their delicious sounding Salads

and HIM had a Aglio Oglio Pepperonchino – a mouthful
(lemon zest, shrimps, rocket on spaghetti R95)

Would I go back again? If I was in the neighbourhood I would! The food was very tasty and not too badly priced and the view… oh the view was amazing!
